Signals

For the project ‘Signals’I went searching for the old lost dykes of the city that are still lying under Delden’s ground. The old dykes were providing statutory protection against bandits and armies.
The streets that are part of the city dykes are often called ‘Walstraat’, but also ‘Hagen’ In order to reveal the contour of the dykes I decided to change the light along the streets Noord- and Zuidwal and Noorder- and Zuiderhagen to green. In different spots along the streets I placed a sound installation with diverse sounds inspired by the history of the city in relation to the dykes. The illuminated streets and the water sounds brought the old dykes into life and formed a new space for the spectators to experience.
The circumference of the outer ring is  3.6 kilometers.
